Abstract
Design considerations underlying present interactive CAD systems are discussed. Two-dimensional general purpose packages now exist, with good graphics support. The computer-aided design process closely parallels that of classical design, but with a more formal working protocol. The impact of current and probable future computer terminal hardware on CAD is reviewed briefly.
