  • Abstract
    Forced commutated VAR compensator principles are well known. The letter, however, discusses how internal current harmonics may modify the mains frequency reactive energy production or consumption pattern. They permit VAR systems to behave both inductively and capacitively, without requiring any additional shunt elements.
