Abstract
Methods for measuring the thickness of lubricant layers are described. The tap durability is found to be dependent on the lubricant thickness. Metal evaporated tape topcoated with one of several liquid lubricants was evaluated for corrosion resistance. The results indicate that a properly lubricated metal evaporated tape can be made as stable as a good metal particle tape which exhibits no loss in playback output after exposure for four weeks at 54°C/85% RH
