Abstract
The reprocessing of nuclear fuel poses problems which are in many ways unique, arising mainly from the highly radioactive nature of the materials being handled. HGMS is, therefore, a potentially very attractive method for removing solids from process streams, involving no moving parts and no penetrations through the containment. The paper describes four different applications of the technique which are currently being investigated and summarises the progress made.
