Abstract :
Particle capture in a matrix is considered, taking into account random orientation of the matrix fibers. Capture statistics are investigated for the case of V_{m}/V_{o}\\ll1 and solutions are obtained for the mean capture radius. Finally, the results are used to calculate values of filter performance N_{out}/N_{\\in} from single wire models and are found to be in good agreement with experimental data.
