Abstract :
A tap-constrained constant modulus algorithm is proposed for the blind equalisation of a time-reversal-based space-time block-coded (STBC) transmission. The tap constraint has been developed by exploiting certain algebraic properties of STBCs, and this constraint avoids the problem of repeated retrieval of identical sources found in the conventional constant modulus algorithms. The bit-error-rate performance of the proposed blind detection algorithm is shown to be very close to that of a pilot-based Viterbi equaliser.
