  • Abstract
    Dual-polarisation radar measurements of the melting layer taken with both linear and circular polarisations are reported. Good agreement is shown between the differential reflectivity measured with linear polarisations and the corresponding quantity calculated from the circular polarisation measurement. The low degree of preferred orientation in the melting layer is shown to be consistent with the observed differential reflectivity values.
