This book is an academic treatment of basic optics for students of physics and engineering. It covers basic geometric optics, lenses, polarization, interference, diffraction, and light sources. It provides basic theory, pertinent equations, and text explaining each equation, as well as examples to show how the equations are used to solve primarily academic problems.
