Abstract :
The main parameters of an atmospheric hybrid gliding arc discharge in air-water, which is generated between at least two metal electrodes with an alternating current high voltage, are measured. They are the electrical parameters, arc velocity, length, and diameter. The voltage cycles are characterized by a moderate increase in tension, which is represented by a peak followed by an abrupt decrease and a current peak in the half period (10 ms). Photographs taken with a high-speed camera clearly show gliding arcs that operate according to successive ignition-lengthening-extinction cycles. The major reactive radicals such as ldrOH are identified by means of spectral scans.
