  • Abstract
    To improve the understanding of acoustic emission data from superconducting magnets some factors affecting the sensitivity of the test arrangement will be discussed. The mechanical conditioning of a superconducting solenoid and its relation to the temperature reached before cooldown will be shown by means of assessment of the acoustic emission event rate.
