Abstract
A unified dispersion model is presented to calculate frequency dependent dielectric constant for a multilayer microstrip line. The model is a combination of the transverse transmission line (TTL) method, the method for the reduction of multilayer structures to an equivalent single layer microstrip line, and the dispersion model of M. Kirschning and R.H. Jansen (1982). The result of the model has been confirmed within an accuracy of 1% against the results from SDA, ESDT, and MM, i.e., various forms of full wave analysis. These results have been confirmed between 2 GHz and 18 GHz. The present model is suitable for use in a CAD package for MIC, MMIC, and printed antenna design
