Abstract :
The loading capability of a 500 kV high-voltage DC (HVDC) transformer bushing is calculated with some unusual conditions: the internal oil circulation in the bushing is blocked at the flange level and the ambient air temperature is raised to 60 degrees C. The theoretical model was verified with a full-scale heat run test on a 7.8 m long bushing. A 220 m/sup 3/ insulated test chamber was required to enclose the test set-up.<>
