Investigations into the Quality of Wastewater in Iranian Industries

The number of industries that now discharge wastes to the environment increased significantly during the past I 0 to 20 years. In view of the toxic effects caused by the presence of these wastes, even at very low concentrations, the general practice of combining pretreated or partially pretreated industrial wastes is being reevaluated by a number of communities. In this research, the wastewater quality of Iranianʹs industries is presented. Main groups of industrial activities based on International Standard Industrial of all economic Activities (ISIC) consist of: Food and soft drink, textile, wood, paper and pulp, chemical, pharmaceutical, petroleum, non-metal mines, metal and machinery and equipment industries. In each group the most important contaminants and specifications of wastewater in some plants are studied. It is believed with regard to management system principles, the basic control procedure steps can be taken for environmental protection.
