كتاب نگاهي تحليلي به علم بيان ازجمله كتاب‌هاي درسي دانشگاهي تازه‌چاپ حوزة بلاغت است كه سعي دارد با اتكا به مباني بلاغت سنتي، از نگاه‌هاي جديد مطرح در اين حوزه نيز بي‌بهره نباشد. ضمناً وجه انتقادي و رويكرد كتاب در تأمل بر اغلب مسائل شايع دانش ادبي «بيان» مندرج در برخي منابع پيشين و طرح و بررسي گاه تفصيلي آن‌ها اسم اين كتاب را كاملاً بامسما كرده است. اشكالاتي كه لامحاله بر اين كتاب پرفايده‌ وارد آمده بعضي عمومي و بعضي تخصصي است. منظور از اشكالات عمومي نادرستي‌ها و كمبودهايي مانند اغلاط مطبعي، نقصان پيشينة تحقيق، و شيوة استناد و نمايه‌سازي است و منظور از اشكالات تخصصي نقايص و اغلاطي است كه در تناسب با موضوع و ساختار كتاب، يعني بلاغت پيش آمده است. مواردي مثل بدگزيني شواهد و بدفهمي آن‌ها كه به‌نظر ما گاه به تحليل و تشخيص غلط اصول بلاغي منجر شده است. در اين نقد هم‌چنين به ضعف انسجام كتاب در مديريت بحث و استشهادات و طبقه‌بندي مطالب اشاره شده است و از اطناب ممل و برخي ايجازهاي مخلّ آن سخن به ميان آورده شده است.

The book Analytical Approach to Rhetoric is one of the recently-published scholarly textbooks in the field of rhetoric that while relying on the basics of traditional rhetoric has attempted to use new approaches in this field as well. Moreover, the critical aspect and the approach of this book to review the most prevalent issues in the field of rhetoric which have been stated in previous sources as well as its attempt to provide a detailed investigation of some of them absolutely justifies the title of this book.. The faults of this book are categorized into general and specific ones. The general ones include some problems such as print mistakes and typos, the lack of literature review and the method of referencing and bibliography whereas the specific ones comprise those flaws which have been appeared in relation to the subject and structure of this book. There are some cases like improper selection of evidence and misreading of them that sometimes has led to false analysis and recognition of rhetorical principles. In this critique, the weak coherence of the book in managing the discussion as well as evidences and categorizing the content has been pointed out and also its mundane verbosity and unnecessary brevity has been discussed.
