Prevalence of Head Lice in Primary School Students in Yasuj

Prevalence of head lice in primary school students in Yasuj was determined by examination of 12247 students.Lice or nits in hair were seen in 11% (21.8%in girls and 1.6% in boys). Infestation was seen in all of the girl schools and in 51.4% of boy schools. Infestation increased by grade (1 to 5) in girls, thus in fifth grade, prevalence was highest (26.37%). Presence of health care staff, private or governmental, presence of bathrooms in homes, alow family number, and the use of shared bedcloth, had a statistically significant relationship with infestation rate (P<0.05). 72.57% of students were not aware of their infestation
