بررسي نام و لقب فرايين/شهربراز در شاهنامه و ديگر منابع تاريخي

The investigation of name and title of Farayin/Shahrbaraz in Shahnameh and other historical sources

در بخش ساسانيان شاهنامۀ فردوسي از شخصيت­هاي تاريخيِ بسياري نام برده شده كه در ديگر منابع با ريخت­ هاي گوناگون و گاه تحريف ­شده ثبـت شده ­اند يا القاب و عنوان­ هاي رسميِ آنان به جاي نامِ آن­ها نشسته است. گاه ميزان تفاوت­ بسيار بوده است و مي­تواند پژوهش ­گر را در ريشه­ شناسي، يافتن معناي نام و تبارشناسي آن شخصيت گم­راه كند و به خطاهاي بزرگ­تر علمي بيانجامد. برخي نام­/لقب ­هاي به­ كار رفته در شاهنامه يگانه است و در ديگر منابع ديده نمي­شود. نام/لقب شهربراز در هيچ يك از منابع تاريخي «فـرايين» نيست و ايـن نـام/لقب تنـها در شاهنامه ثبت شده است. اين جستار بـه ريشه­ شناسي و سنجش اين نام/لقب­ ها در منابع گوناگون مي­ پردازد و براي اين كار، اين شخصيت و نام، عناوين و القاب او در منابع كهن پهلوي، فارسي، عربي، سرياني، ارمني و يوناني رديابي، واكاوي و سنجش شده و دربارۀ چراييِ ثبت «فرايين» از سوي فردوسي و ميزان درستي يا تحريف آن و نقش فردوسي، منبع او، كاتبان و ويراستان در اين تغييرات بحث شده است. «گراز» و «فرايين» در شاهنامه يك شخص هستند و هر دوي اين نام­ ها در منبع شاهنامه وجود داشته و فردوسي هر دو را با كمي تغيير به كار برده است.

In Sassanid section of Shahnameh Ferdowsi names of many historical characters are mentioned, yet they are otherwise recorded and at times appear somewhat altered in other sources, or rather their epithets and formal titles sit in place of their names. Sometimes this difference is so large that could mislead a researcher in arriving at the true etymology, meaning of the name and genealogy of the character and hence lead to greater scientific fallacies. Certain names or epithets employed in Shahnameh are unique and are not seen in other sources. Farayin, name or epithet of Shahrbaraz is mentioned in none of the historical sources but Shahnameh. This research deals with the etymology and examination of this name or epithet in different ancient sources such as Pahlavi, Farsi, Arabic, Aramaic, Syriac and Greek ones. The reason why Ferdowsi had selected and recorded Farayin and whether or not this name is true, also Ferdowsi’s role, his source, his scribers and editors and their possible role in alteration of the name are further discussed. Goraz and Farayin, being one person exist in Shahnameh and Ferdowsi had used the two with slight modification.
