The Accessability of Electronic Journals and its Possible Impact on Collection Development Policies of Fersowsi University Libraries

In recent years, electroni fulltex journals are added to the collection of printed serials in Ferdowsi University Libraries . Some of these two formats are identical journals. The question is should the libraries continue subscribing print titles which their electronic format are also accessible electlronically . A sample of 26 disciplines with postgraduate levelsdepartments were selected and their related availables printed journals were compared to electronic journals accessible in the same subjects. From 492 subscribed titles, 205 journals are listed as core (master)journals, 77 titles of these belonging to Humanities and Social sciences and 128 titles belonging to science, engineering and agriculture. From 882 titles held, 308 titles have missing issues. It was found that 152 titles are accessible in print as well as electronicl formats.
