Removal of Ammonia from Air by Modified Iranian Zeolites (Clinoptilolite), Using Ion-Exchange Technique

Three Iranian Natural zeolites Clinoptilolite from Semnan, Myaneh, and Firouzkooh regions were modified to the cationic and acidic forms and their adsorption behaviour toward NH3 gas was studied. The zeolite samples were modified using IN solution of some cations (sodium^2, potassium, calcium) and IN solution of some mineral acids (phosphoric acid, nitric acid, choloridric and sulphoric acid). The solid / lipuid ratio was adjusted at 1:25. The breakthrough and saturation points and breakthrough capacity and saturation capacity of samples were obtained The effect of several of parameters such as concentration, temperature and flow rates were also investigated. The results obtained showed that in comparison to natural and cationic forms the modified natural zeolites with various mineral acids are significantly more efficient for ammonia adsorption (P<0, 0001).
