The behavior of indeterminate moment resisting RC frames under seismic lateral loads is a complicated phenomenon. Structural overstrength is one of the most important factors affecting this behavior. On the other hand many qualitative and quantitative factors affect the overstrength of frames. The other important factor related to the structural behavior is structural redundancy which in turn is under the influence of many other parameters. In order to estimate the overstretch and redundancy of RC moment resisting frames, 25 RC frames with 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10 stories, having 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bays are studied using nonlinear incremental static analysis method. The results of these analyses are compared and some relationships are proposed for estimating the overstrength and redundancy of frames in terms of the number of stories and bays.
