Clinical Study of Scorpion Sting With Emphasis on Hesitating Serotherapy

In this clinical study, 262 cases with scorpion stings referring to the emergency room in Birjand were surveyed, They were followed-up for clinical course and prognosis without antivenom as treatment. Pain was observed as a general presentation in all cases; major symptoms included tenseness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, restlessness and generalized pruritic. No differences were observed as for the type and intensity of pain in young children and adults. The prognosis was excellent and no mortality was observed. According to the findings, it can be concluded that scorpion stings in Birjand can be successfully managed without the use of antivenom.
