چكيده لاتين :
The polymeric and non-p olymeric petrochemical wastes are environmen tally unfavorable mate rials.
We have to found a way to reuse these wastes in a safe manner. In styrene-buta diene rubber (SBR)
production plant two maj or wastes are produced one is a fine rub ber powder and the other is recycled
N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP). In high-d ensity polyeth ylene (HDPE) production plant also a low
molecular weight poly mer waste is produced which does not degrade in environment eas ily. On the
other hand , bitumen is usually blended with thermoplastics, rubbers and an oil to produce polymermodified
bitumens. Effect of SBR, PE and NMP wastes on vacuum bottom residue of crude oi l distillation
was investigated. The results of penetration , softe ning poi nt and Frass tests revealed the
advan tages of SBR and PE wastes at high temperatures and sugges t NMP waste as a good bitumen
ex tender. The results of the Marshal test on the prepared polymer-modified hot-mi x asphalt of the
optimum formulation highli ght the super iority of its strength and its lower flow as compared with
those of standard 60170 penetration grade bitumen.
