Identification papers are those used to identify people. Forging such documents is considered an efficient way to commit financial crimes. Authorities responsible for* launching successful campagins against such crimes, need knowledge of the role of forged identification papers in crimes against properties. To reach this goal, the present paper has benefited from questionnaire and the cases related to forging documents in Tehranʹs Criminal Investigation Department. The results of the study show that:(l) Identity certificates are the most forged identification papers;(2) Forging photos are the most popular way of forging identification papers; (3) Identification papers are mostly used to commit fraud; and (4) Stilling measures are not the most effective ways of dealing with the use of forged identification papers.
