Survey of Tehranʹs forensic medicine practitioners veiws on 62 selected cases of Dieh & Arsh

Background & Aim: In order to respect patients rights who are referred to Legal Medicine Organization, comprehensive andprecise laws & regulations are needed 10 make uniform expertise views and consequently uniform judgments by court at different times and places. We studied the extent ofuniformity in expertise views given by legal medicine experts of Tehran and their assessments of Arsh and Dieh in some selected cases to find their degree of uniformity. Materials & Methods: This study is a prospective research which uses a piloted anonymous questionnaire; by open and closed questions, it includes selected casesfor assessing Arsh and Dieh. Findings: The study population was comprised ol99 legal medicine physicians working in Tehran sprovince legal medicine center from a roster of flO. The average age was 36.6 ± 5.0 vealʹS, and the mean of working experience was 5.6 ±3.9 years. 59 were men (59.6o/J and 40 were women (40.6ryJ all of the responders believed in identical answers in 7 of6l (l1.3o/oJ questions and there was no controversy. There was a mild controversy (75-99% similarity in answers) over -11 (66. Jo/J questions and a moderate controversy (50-74% similarity in answers) over 13 (ll.OryJ questions. Only over one (I.60ir.J question, there was a severe controversy (less than 5{)~"ʹ;l similarity in answers). Conclusion: Although 1/1(ʹ main differences cause mild controversies, the important role offorensic medicine expertise views injudgments ofcourt and consequently the patient :r". rights necessitates a higher quality and uniformity oftorensic medicine prescriptions.
