Investigation of Effective Factors in the Selection of Stabilizer for Double Based Propellants

One important and effective factor in the stability of a propellant is type and content of its stabilizer. As the most important reason of chemical instability of double based propellants is based on the release of NO2 gas that results from decomposition of nitrate esters, so one suitable stabilizer is used in the propellants composition in order to eliminate these gases and slowdown the decomposition and auto oxidation reactions of the propellant. In this paper effect of type and content of the stabilizer in chemical stability of propellants and effective factors in selection a suitable stabilizer for a double based propellant are discussed and also different stabilizers are compared to each others.
