The Contribution of khalid- Ibne- yazid- Ibne- Muʹavieh To the Development of Science

The expansion of the victories of Islam during the first century of Hijra caused the cherishing of Muslimsʹ culture and civilization. Many scholars and scientists appeared in various sciences, who proceeded to spread knowledge by using Iranian and Greek sciences as well as other civilizations with their efforts and creative attitudes and thoughts. One of the earliest individuals who concentrated on the Greek and intellectual knowledge in history of Islam was khalid- Ibn- valid- Ibn- Muʹavieh. During his trip to Egypt, he became familiar with Greeks and Elexandarians there and with different sciences and proceeded to learn sciences and then to translate some books on alchemy, medicine, and astronomy in Arabic. He asked the Elexandarian scholars for help. This paper is an attempt to investigate the efforts and aspirations of khalid to learn sciences, particularly alchemy as well as translating books. The article also seeks to reveal his actions and measurements in terms of translating book that caused these sciences to be introduced and developed among the Muslims.
