Study of social adjustment of the children and adolescents with epilepsy (12-18 years old) in the city of Isfahan

Epilepsy is a chronic disease with impacts on different aspects of social adjustment. The aim of this study was to measure of social adjustment of the children and adolescents with epilepsy, age 12-18 years old in the city Isfahan. This is a descriptive research, statistical population was all of the children and adolescents with epilepsy who referred to the Noor clinic of the city of Isfahan in 1384. Participants in this study were 61 patients. Two instruments, included California test of personality (social adjustment subscale) and Demographic questionnaires were administered to participants. To analyze the data, One- Sample T-Test method was used. The results showed score mean of social adjustment of the children and adolescents with epilepsy in the subscale of social roles (3.87) was greater than moderate level (3). But, in other subscales of social adjustment [social skills (2.55), antisocial interests (2.22), family relationships (2.89), school relationships (2.76), and social relationships (2.93)] was less than moderate level (3). According to the findings, children and adolescents with epilepsy in the subscales of social roles and avoidance of antisocial interests had proper adjustment. But, in the subscales of social skills, antisocial interests, family relationships, school relationships, and social relationships were not well adjusted.
