The Effects of Stateʹs Ratification of the ICC Statute on National Laws and Universal Jurisdiction

International community which can not tolerate stateʹs negligence with regard to prosecution and punishment of international criminals, has established international criminal tribunals and finally International Criminal Court for terminating the impunity. In the meantime, in the introduction of ICC Statute, states play a principal role in fight against impunity of international crimes which are threatening the international peace and security. Complementary jurisdiction is a predictive clause in Statute which affirms this process and prevents international criminals to escape from justice. So, the implementation of Statute by contracting states, may empower them to show and fulfill their role. Therefore, some states after ratification of the Statute changed their laws and amended them to cover crimes under ICC jurisdiction.
