A Survey on Noumena and Phenomena

The problem of noumena/phenomena is one of the most important issues in Kantʹs philosophy which differentiates his system of philosophy from its predecessors. It is, on the one hand, a result of considering forms of sensation (time and place) as a priori, and on the other, the foundation for a change in human epistemology. Therefore, surveying this issue brings about a good understanding of the basic ideas of Kantʹs approach. The author in this article wants to first investigate the reasons for such a dichotomy in Kantʹs philosophy, and then to present a clear picture of its different aspects, despite some contradictory appearances. He follows the issue in transcendental aesthetic, transcendental analytic, and transcendental dialectic. At the end, the author beings up some critiques about this theory.
