Addiction and drug misuse is a sophisticated and multi-factor disorder. Relying on a single factor such as lack of information or low self-confidence, and ignoring other factors is a kind of oversimplification. To decrease the effects of this disastrous misery, it seems necessary to search for an effective way of prevention.
In this piece of research various methods of prevention are studied. Then, the attitudes of different people towards teaching moral and human principles and its effectiveness are appraised. Different methods of prevention, including increasing the knowledge of people, producing and propagating journal and radio and television messages, issuing journals, advising people, transmission of information through internet bases, showing films and plays, holding round-tables and free discussions are also evaluated. Surveying research method is applied to this piece of research. Questionnaires were distributed among the research subjects to review the amount of their awareness and attitudes towards the suggested method of prevention and its effectiveness. The whole population of the Iranian 13 to 35-year old population, estimated as 2083049 people, was involved in this research. The sample included 2500 people. The researchers conducted free interviews with the experts and scholars in the field to design the questionnaires. In the end, a final questionnaire was designed with 61 fixed questions and two open-ended ones. The data was analyzed in the process of descriptive data analysis, including frequency diagram, mean, and standard deviation. For inference analysis, step to step regression analysis was applied to find out the subjectsʹ attitudes towards this prevention method. Structural equations analysis was applied to extract one-sided relation patterns between effectiveness of prevention method on the attitudes. The outcomes indicated that peopleʹs attitudes towards the effectiveness of the teaching of moral and human principles were positive. However, the results were different for the relation between other methods of prevention and the presented method. The results also indicated that there was a relation between positive attitudes towards teaching moral and human principle and the educational level and type of job.
