A STUDY OF IRAN HOUSING DEMOGRAPHIC INDEXES OF THE YEAR 1385 (2006)

Housing is an important topic among economic, demographic and social studies. If the problem of housing is not recognized and properly responded, whole the society and system may suffer. A general review of housing conditions in different countries shows that no country has completely solved housing problems. In some countries these problems are of quantitative character, where as other countries have qualitative problem. Housing index are devices of assessing housing problems and at the same time keys to future prospective. The present article studies housing indexes of Iran. Findings indicate that although some quantitative and qualitative aspects of housing problems are considered but many are neglected in the country and there exist substantial problems such as congestion of households in housing units, none compliance to the desirable standard of one person one room, shortage of housing units, existence of old & non-durable units, high percentage of rental units and units without enough necessary facilities.
