DESIRABILITY OF THE ABUNDANCE OF POPULATION AND FERTILITY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT AND ITS COMPARISON TO THE NEW TESTAMENT

Abundance of the population and fertility are among important and essential concepts of demography which were always favored by different religions and orders, as their survival and continuance depends on them. In Judaism and Christianity the two concepts were important and their holy books contain many commandments concerning the population growth and fertility. In this study we try refer directly to the texts of both the old and new testaments and extract the method used is documentary (librarian) method. Findings of the research show that the two holy books are very rich in this respect and had determinant effects on the thoughts and conducts of the followers of these religions.
