Internet Research

Internet features have provided a new research context for social sciences and in this regard qualitative research practice has a great significance. This paper aims at discussing internet research area from sociological point of view, considering challenges, opportunities and obstacles that researchers have been being encountered and bringing up some principal questions about utilization of qualitative research practice into internet context. For this purpose, writer by use of instances have stated her experiences and concepts that gained through interaction to her partners. Paper begins with discussion about internet concept. Then considering it within three frameworks: internet as tool, internet as place, and internet as way of being. Subsequently, capabilities and restrictions of Interviewing text to text have been considered. Style of chatting with research partner has illustrated through practical examples and issues such as authenticity, anonymity, identity, ethics and textuality on virtual environment articulately has been discussed. Finally, paper by proposing a new perspective for qualitative research practice on internet and the way we have perceived each other, has been ended.
