Analysis of Biotechnology Experts1 Attitude of Universities in Tehran Province toward Application of Transgenic Plants

he purpose of this study was to analyze biotechnology expertsʹ Attitude in university centers of Tehran province toward application of transgenic plants. A descriptive study was carried out through a survey method. The target population consisted of biotechnology experts and plant breeders at universities of Tehran province (N=75). By Keijcie and Morgan sample size table and ratio stratified randomized sampling method 63 experts were chosen as the sample. Research instrument was questionnaire. Content and validity of the questionnaire was confirmed and corrected based on opinions of a panel of agricultural extension & education and biotechnology experts. A pilot test was conducted to determine the reliability of the questionnaire. Cronbachʹs alpha was estimated between 0.78. Descriptive findings showed that 47.6% of expertsʹ attitude toward using transgenic plants was ʹmediumʹ. Factor analysis results showed that about 86 percent of experts1 attitude toward using of transgenic plants is determined by five factors of: biosafety, management, believe, providence and cognitive.
