Nezami Ganjei and Ascension of Mohammad

Profit Muhammadʹs "ascension" is a Quranic event, which happened just before his emigration to Medina. This spiritual journey occurred during a night in Ramadan. It is one of the most astonishing events of profit Muhammadʹs life which has been analyzed and studied continuously since then. It has been mentioned under "Alasra" and "Alnajm" entries in different commentaries of Quran. It has also been one of the interests of Persian poets and has been mentioned in their works since the early fifth century. This literary trend gradually developed by time. During the sixth century "Sanaei" and "Khaghani" paid special attention to this subject in their work, "Hadighatolhaghigh at" Tohfat-alaraghain" How ever, ascension has been most used by Nezami in his "Panj Ganj". He has portrayed this event in over 300 couplets. In my opinion this is due to his poetic nature which is both religious and imaginative. Ascension is the most poetic and imaginary event in profit Muhammadʹs life. Choosing this subject Nezami fulfilled his poetic nature and maintained his ascetic way of life at the same time.
