Measurement of particles residence time in rod and ball mills of Esfordi phosphate processing plant

Grinding circuit of Esfordi phosphate plant includes two rod and ball mills. To evaluate the performance of grinding circuit, the required samples collected from different streams of: feed and product of rod mill, feed, overflow and underflow of hydrocyclone, ball mill feed and cyclone cluster underflow, during 7 days. These samples used in various experiments such as screen analyzing, solid weight percent and work index estimation. The results obtained from different tests indicated that work index average value is equal to 9.47 kWh/mt, also solid weight percent in streams (except rod mill feed) were equal to 55.6, 58.0, 16.0, 83.6, 76.0 and 54.0 percent, respectively. According to the results the reduction ratio in rod and ball mills were estimated as 64.65, 1.15, respectively, which show a remarkable discrepancy with initial design values.
