چكيده لاتين :
To evaluate the effects of plant density and planting pattern on seed yield and its components in maize as a second crop after wheat a research was initiated at Miandoab Agricultural Research Station, during summer of 2005. The experiment conducted in strip plot, based on randomized complete block design with three replications. The planting pattern (vertical factor) consist of three row spacings (Pi=45cm, P2= 60 cm and P3= 75 cm) and plant densities (horizontal factor) of three levels (D1= 60000, D2= 75000 and D3= 85000 plants per hectare). Analysis of variance for the data collected indicated that effect of planting pattern on plant height and harvest index (HI) were significant. The highest plant height (247.37 cm) and harvest index (%49.50) belonged to 75 cm row spacing. The effect of planting density on seed number and seed rows in an ear and seed yield were also statistically significant. Highest seed yield (8.141 ton/ha), seed number (544.51) and seed rows per ear (15.11 row) were obtained in 75000 plants per hectare. Seed yield decreased when plant densities exceeded or decreased from 75000 plants per hectare. Plant density (P) by planting pattern (D) interaction was found to be significant for seed yield. Highest grain yield (8473 kg/ha) was obtained at 85000 plants per hectare (D3) and 76cm rows spacing (P3).
