NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (NAS)

National Academy of Sciences address critical issues and give advice to the federal government and the public. Academy consists of four organizations: the National Academy of Science, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council. These non-profit organizations ensure independent advice on matters of science, technology, and medicine. They enlist committees of the nationʹs top scientist, engineers, and other experts. The result of their deliberations have inspired improvement of the health, education, and welfare of the population. Since 1989, the Academy has organized annual symposia on Frontiers of Science. The Frontiers of Science symposia have become a major instrument in bringing together the next generation of leaders in the natural sciences and engineering fields, in the United States and around the world. About 180 members of the academy are Nobel prize winners and this indicates that very high eminent scientists are selected as members of the academy.
