Viewpoints of LIS Society Concerning Change in Content, Teaching, and Title of the Discipline

هدف: اين پژوهش به‌دنبال بررسي ديدگاه جامعه كتابداري و اطلاع رساني در خصوص تغيير در سه حوزه عنوان، محتوا و آموزش اين رشته بوده و درصدد بررسي اين مساله مبنايي است كه تغيير در حوزه هاي مختلف كتابداري و اطلاع رساني از ديدگاه متخصصان و كاركنان و دانشجويان اين رشته چه اَبعاد و گستره اي را در بر مي گيرد و اولويت تغييرات از نظر آنها مي‌بايست به چه صورت باشد و آيا توافقي بين جامعه كتابداري و اطلاع‌رساني در خصوص اين تغييرات وجود دارد يا خير. روش: پژوهش حاضر از نوع كاربردي است و بنا به ماهيت موضوع، اهداف پژوهش و سوالات، از پيمايش بهره گرفته شده است. در اين پژوهش، نظرات 275 نفر از اعضاي جامعه حرفه‌اي (هيات علمي، دانشجو و كتابدار) گردآوري و مورد تجزيه و تحليل قرار گرفته است. براي گردآوري اطلاعات از پرسشنامه محقق‌ساخته استفاده شد. براي آزمودن پرسش‌هاي پژوهش از آزمون هاي آماري فريدمن، كروسكال‌واليس و تحليل واريانس استفاده شد. يافته‌ها: نتايج آزمون فريدمن نشان داد كه اولويت تغيير در بين جامعه كتابداري و اطلاع رساني به ترتيب عبارت از تغيير در عنوان، محتوا و سپس آموزش است. همچنين آزمون كروسكال‌واليس و تحليل واريانس نشان داد كه سه گروه جامعه مخاطب نسبت به تغيير در حوزه محتوا و آموزش نظر يكساني دارند ولي نسبت به عنوان رشته نظر يكساني ندارند. اصالت/ارزش: تاكنون بحث‌هاي مربوط به تغيير در حوزه‌هاي مختلف كتابداري و اطلاع‌رساني به‌صورت نظرات شخصي و بحث‌هايي بوده است كه در اظهارنظرهاي افراد مورد توجه قرار گرفته و يا تنها نظرات بخشي از جامعه اين رشته منعكس شده است. در اين تحقيق با مراجعه به نظرات سه گروه از اعضاي جامعه حرفه‌اي كتابداري و اطلاع‌رساني، اولويت مورد نظر آنها براي تغيير در عنوان، محتوا و آموزش رشته مورد بررسي قرار گرفته است.

Purpose: Herein, we seek to study the viewpoints of librarianship and information science society regarding change in title, content, and teaching of this discipline and it is aimed to study those fundamental dimensions of changes in different fields of this discipline encompass from viewpoint of LIS experts, staff, and students. Also, what are the change priorities from their point of view and is there consensus in LIS society regarding these changes? Methodology: This is an applied study and we have made use of survey study due to nature of the subject, as well as goals of the study and questions. Viewpoints of 275 members of professional society (faculty members, students, and librarians) were collected and analyzed. A researcher-made questionnaire was used for data collection. Also, statistical tests including Friedman test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and ANOVA were applied to test the research questions. Findings: Results of Friedman test indicated that change priority from viewpoint of LIS society in order of significance is change in title, content, and teaching. Furthermore, Kruskal-Wallis and ANOVA tests showed that the three mentioned groups of LIS society have consensus for change in content and teaching; however, no such consensus exists regarding change in the title. Originality/Value: So far, debates related to changes in different scopes of librarianship and information science has been made either as personal opinions and discussions or as those reflecting the viewpoints of merely a part of LIS society. In the present research, through survey of viewpoints expressed by three groups of members of LIS professional society, their desired priorities regarding change in title, content, and teaching of the major were studied.
