Philosophy and the Position of Satan in the Transcendental Theosophy

وجود شيطان امري است كه مورد تاييد اديان الهي، به‌ويژه دين مبين اسلام است. قرآن در سوره‌هاي متعددي به وجود شيطان اشاره نموده است: «قلنا للملايكه اسجدوا لآدم فسجدوا الا ابليس لم يكن من السجدين» (اعراف: 11 و...) قرآن در ادامه شيطان را دشمن آشكار انسان، و كار او را وسوسه و اغوا گري بيان نموده است. از طرف ديگر، براساس مباني ديني و فلسفي، به‌ويژه حكمت متعاليه، عالم هستي، داراي نظام احسن است. ازاين رو، با توجه به وجود نقايص و شرور فراوان در جهان هستي از جمله شيطان، هميشه اين پرسش در ذهن فلاسفه و ديگر دانشمندان، مطرح بوده كه آيا نظام جهان موجود، بهترين نظام است يا نه؟ در نگاه نخست، چنين به نظر مي‌رسد كه جهان عاري از هرگونه نقص و شر، بهترين نظام است. آنگاه اين پرسش مطرح مي‌شود كه چرا در جهان حاضر، موجودي به نام شيطان وجود دارد كه كارش اغواي انسآنهاست؟ ملاصدرا برپايه نظام فلسفي حكمت متعاليه خويش، جهان هستي را برآمده از نظام رباني مي‌داند، كه در اين‌صورت داراي بهترين شكل ممكن مي‌باشد. آنگاه در مقام پاسخ به پرسش مذكور، وجود شيطان، را از حيث وجودي خير دانسته و منافع متعددي را كه جز خداوند متعال كسي بر آن احاطه ندارد، بيان مي كند و در نهايت به تبيين ضرورت وجود شيطان در نظام احسن پرداخته است. تشريح نظر صدرالمتالهين با توجه به آثار او، به‌ويژه اسفار اربعه، مفاتيح الغيب و تفسير قرآن كريم، وظيفه اي است كه ما در اين مقاله به آن پرداخته‌ايم.

The existence of Satan is confirmed by the Divine religions especially Islam. Quran has mentioned the existence of Satan in many chapters: "then We said to the angels,ʹProstrate before Adam.ʹ So they [all] prostrated, but not Iblis: he was not among those who prostrated" (verse 11, chapter Aʹraf). Quran then considers Satan as an obvious enemy for human being and explains that his main function is to tempt and mislead human. On the other hand, the world of existence has the most excellent order according to religious and philosophical bases, especially the transcendental theosophy. Considering the plenty of deficiencies and evil in the world, including the Satan, the following question has always been present in the minds of philosophers and other scholars: is the present order of the world the most excellent order or not? In the first glance it seems that in the best system and order there should be no deficiency and evil. Then this question comes to mind: why is there an existent, named Satan, in the present world whose function is to mislead human being? Molla Sadra believes, based on his philosophical system of the transcendental theosophy, that the origin of the world of existence is the Divine system which thus has the best form possible. Then answering the mentioned question, he says the existence of Satan is good; he explains various benefits for his existence which only God is aware of all of them. Finally the necessity of existence of Satan in the most excellent order is explained.
