Contributions of Abdul Vahab’s Translations to Persian and Arabic Literature

اين پژوهش به بررسي و نقد موضوع سبك و ساختار ترجمه عبدالوهّاب عزّام و خدمات ترجمه‌اي او در زبان و ادب فارسي و عربي مي‌پردازد و براي جامع و كامل‌تر بودن نقد و بررسي‌ها، آثار برگزيده ترجمه عزّام مورد بررسي قرار گرفته‌ است و نيز براي تبيين دقيق اين موضوع، ديدگاه‌ها و سبك ترجمه‌اي عزّام، ترجمه قصايد شاعران نامور پارسي‌گوي همچون حافظ، مولوي، اقبال لاهوري، نظامي، عطّار نيشابوري از زبان فارسي به عربي و تاليفات بين زباني او در زبان‌هاي شرقي آورده شده است. در اين جستار از روش تحليلي ـ توصيفي استفاده شده، بدين گونه كه نخست آثار نادر ترجمه‌اي عزّام به زبان عربي را يافته، سپس اسلوب و ساختار ترجمه او در ميان مقالات نقدي و تاليف‌هاي بين زباني وي مورد بررسي قرار گرفته است و در نهايت، به بررسي و نقد آثار ترجمه شده عزّام در زبان فارسي و عربي پرداخته شده است. نتايج پژوهش حاضر بيانگر اين مطلب است كه عبدالوهّاب عزّام به عنوان يكي از طلايه‌داران ترجمه در كشور مصر، در ترويج و انتقال ادب و فرهنگ و تمدّن فارسي به زبان عربي از طريق ترجمه، تلاش و اقدامات شايان ذكري را انجام داده است و با فراگيري اصول ترجمه و با بهره‌مندي از قريحه شاعري خود ـ طبق نظر بسياري از نظريّه‌پردازان جهان عرب ـ در ترجمه آثار فارسي به عربي موفّق ظاهر شده است. ساختار شاعرانه ترجمه‌هاي وي و انتقال اين عاطفه و احساس در كنار لفظ و معنا به ترجمه‌هاي عزّام ارج و اهميّت فراواني داده است.

The present article aims to study and analyze Abdul VahabAzzam’s translations in terms of style and structure along with his contributions in the field of Persian and Arabic language and literature. To be comprehensive in this research, a selection of his works has been investigated. To elaborate more on this subject, the viewpoints and translation style of Azzam, his translations of odes by such great Persian poets as Hafez, Molavi, EghbalLahori, Nezami, AtarNeyshaboori as well as his publications in Eastern languages are studied. In this research, a descriptive-analytical approach is used such that, first, it explores Azzam’s rare translated works in Arabic. Then, their structure and method is considered in relation to his translated critical papers and publications. Finally, the paper studies his translation of critical works in Persian and Arabic. The paper endeavors to indicate that Abdul VahabAzzam, as one of the pioneers in the field of translation in Egypt, has taken remarkable measures in promoting and spreading the literature, culture, and civilization of Persians in Arabic through translation. By acquiring the principles of translation and employing his poetic talent, according to many theorists of the Arab world, he has appeared successful in translating Persian works into Arabic. Azzam’s poetic translations in transferring feelings and affections along with words and meanings have given value and importance to Azzam.
