يكي از حوزه‌هايي كه در قلمرو اسلام‌شناسي، عظمت اسلام را به طور شايسته و بايسته به منصه ظهور و اثبات مي‌رساند، بررسي و شناخت تمدّن اسلامي _ به عنوان يكي از تمدّن‌هاي اصلي و تاريخ‌ساز _ است. استاد مطهري در زمره اسلام‌شناسان و متفكّراني است كه به تمدّن اسلامي و مباحث مرتبط با آن در راستاي دفاع عقيدتي از اسلام رويكرد و شيفتگي ويژه ابراز داشته است. در پژوهش حاضر سعي بر آن شده تا به روش كتابخانه‌اي _ اسنادي، ديدگاه استاد شهيد درباره عوامل دروني ضعف، عقب‌ماندگي و انحطاط تمدّن ياد شده تبيين و تحليل شود. نتايج پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد كه او با علاقه و تمركز ويژه عوامل متنوّع و متعدّدي را در ابعاد عقيدتي، سياسي، فكري، فرهنگي، علمي و اجتماعي به بحث گذاشته است.

Ustad Mutahhari is among the Muslim scholars and thinkers who has expressed special approach and interest in the Islamic ccivilization and its related issues in line with ideological defense of Islam. This study attempts to analyze and elucidate the viewpoint of Ustad Mutahhari concerning the inner elements of the weakness, backwardness, and degradation of the mentioned civilization with the library-documentary method. The findings of the research suggests that he has discussed various and numerous elements in ideological, intellectual, cultural, scientific, and social dimensions with a special interest and concentration.
