An Introduction, Critique and Review of A Descartes Dictionary

در مقالة پیش رو ــ چنان‌كه از عنوانش پیداست ــ می‌خواهیم به معرفی، نقد، و بررسی فرهنگ فلسفة دكارت، نوشتة جان‌كاتینگم و با ترجمة علی افضلی بپردازیم. جان كاتینگم، دكارت‌شناس و مترجم آثار دكارت، این كتاب را با عنوان A Descartes Dictionary به سال 1993 نوشته و انتشارات Blackwell آن را منتشر كرده است. این كتاب را دكتر علی افضلی، مترجم اعتراضات و پاسخ‌ها، به سال 1390 به فارسی برگردانده و انتشارات مؤسسة حكمت و فلسفه منتشر كرده است. در بهار 1391، این كتاب اثر برگزیدة بیستمین دورة جایزة كتاب فصل معرفی شد. نویسنده قصد دارد، در مقدمة مقاله، نخست معرفی اجمالی از نویسندة كتاب ارائه دهد و در ادامه به معرفی و نقد و بررسی اجمالی خود كتاب بپردازد، و سرانجام پیش از ورود به بخش اصلی مقاله، مترجم كتاب به‌اجمال معرفی شود. نقد و بررسی ترجمة فارسی این فرهنگ فلسفی كه بخش اصلی مقاله را به خود اختصاص می‌دهد، در دو بخش صوری و محتوایی تنظیم شده كه نخست از جنبة صوری و شكلی به نقد و ارزیابی می‌پردازیم و در بخش دوم ترجمه را از منظر محتوایی و تخصصی بررسی می‌كنیم.

As the title suggests, the present paper aims to provide an introduction, critique, and review of A Descartes Dictionary written by John Cottingham and translated by Ali Afzali. John Cottingham, Descartes scholar and translator of Descartes works, has written this book entitled A Descartes Dictionary in 1993 which has been published by Blackwell Publishing. The book has been translated into Persian by Doctor Ali Afzali, translator of Objections and Responses in 1390 and has been published by the Institute of Wisdom and Philosophy Publishing. In the spring of 1391, this book was named the selected work of the twentieth round of the Season’s Book Award. The author intends to present a brief biography of the author of the book initially in the introduction to this paper, followed by a brief introduction, review and critique of the book itself, and finally, before going to main part of the paper, a briefly introduction to the translator. The review and critique of the Persian translation of this philosophical dictionary that constitute the main part of the paper has been organized in the two parts of form and content. First, the translation will be reviewed and evaluated from the point of view of form and morphology and in the second part we will take a look at it in terms of content and professional aspects.
