بررسي آسيمتري نرمال صورت در مردان با مال اكلوژن اسكلتي كلاس II و III و ارتباط آن با راست دست يا چپ دست بودن افراد

Evaluation of normal facial asymmetry in men with skeletal Cl II & III malocclusion and its relationship with being right-handed or left-handed

مقدمه: آسيمتري‌هاي غير پاتولوژيك، عموماً در اثر اختلاف سايز سمت راست و چپ صورت ايجاد مي‌شود. هدف از اين مطالعه، تعيين آسيمتري نرمال صورت در افراد كلاس II و III، جهت شفاف‌سازي برتري جانبي صورت و ارتباط آن با راست دست يا چپ دست بودن در افراد بالاي 18 سال بود. مواد و روش‌ها: در اين مطالعه‌ي توصيفي- تحليلي از نوع مقطعي، تصاوير ديجيتال فوتوگرافي از نماي فرونتال از بيماران كلاس II و III مراجعه كننده به بخش ارتودنسي دانشكده‌ي دندان‌پزشكي خوراسگان اصفهان شامل 66 نفر (مرد) (43 نفر كلاس II و 23 نفر كلاس III) تهيه شد. از بيماران در مورد راست يا چپ دست بودن و سمت فانكشن غالب جويدنشان سوال گرديد. در فوتوگرافي‌ها، خط ميدلاين صورت و نقطه‌ي منتون بر روي چانه رسم گرديد و فاصله‌ي دو نيمه‌ي سمت راست و چپ صورت تا خط وسط و همچنين فاصله‌ي نقطه منتون تا خط وسط صورت در فتوشاپ اندازه‌گيري شد. داده‌ها توسط آزمون t مستقل تجزيه و تحليل گرديد (05/0 = ?). يافته‌ها: 2/51 درصد از افراد كلاس II و 8/47 درصد از افراد كلاس III نيمه‌ي راست صورت (85/0 = p value) و در 8/48 درصد افراد كلاس II، و 2/52 درصد از افراد كلاس III، نيمه‌ي چپ صورتشان (79/0 = p value) پهن‌تر بود، بنابراين بين كلاس دنداني با پهناي صورت، اختلاف آماري معني‌داري ديده نشد. همچنين 1/62 درصد از كل افراد مورد مطالعه، انحراف چانه به سمت چپ را نشان دادند (001/0 > p value). 2/58 درصد از افراد راست دست، عرض نيمه‌ي راست صورتشان و 9/90 درصد از افراد چپ دست، عرض نيمه‌ي چپ صورتشان بزرگتر بود (003/0 = p value) و رابطه‌ي معني‌داري بين فانكشن غالب جويدن با برتري جانبي صورت مشاهده نشد (56/0 = p value). نتيجه‌گيري: مال‌ اكلوژن كلاس II و III بر روي برتري جانبي صورت عرض نيمه صورت تاثيري ندارد، اما چپ دست يا راست دست بودن بر برتري جانبي صورت تاثير دارد. كليد واژه‌ها: عدم تقارن صورت، مال اكلوژن كلاس II، مال اكلوژن كلاس III

Introduction: Non-pathological facial asymmetries are usually due to differences in sizes of the right and left sides. This study investigated normal facial asymmetry in individuals with Cl II and III malocclusion to clarify facial laterality and its relationship with the right-handedness or left-handedness. Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, frontal-view digital photographs were taken of 66 subjects (43 Cl II and 23 Cl III) referring to the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Khorasgan University. The patients were questioned about the main chewing function side and their right- or left-handedness. On the photographs, the facial midline and menton point on the chin were drawn; the distance between the midline and the left and right sides were measured on the photographs using Photoshop software program. In addition, the distance between the menton point and the midline was measured. Data were analyzed with independent t-test (? = 0.05). Results: In 51.2% of Cl II and 47.8% of Cl III subjects the right side of the face (p value = 0.85) was wider than the left side and in 48.8% of Cl II and 52.2% of Cl III subjects the left side of the face (p value = 0.79) was wider than the right side, with no significant relationship between dental occlusion and face width. In addition, 62.1% subjects exhibited deviation of the chin to the left side (p value < 0.001). In 58.2% of right-handed and in 90.9% of left-handed subjects the right and left side of the face was wider, respectively (p value = 0.003). In addition, there was no significant relationship between the main chewing function side and laterality of the face. Conclusion: Cl II and Cl III malocclusion exhibited no effect on face laterality and the facial half width; however, right-handedness and left-handedness affected face laterality.
