Review of Safety Measures to Decrease Unsignalized Intersection Collisions

تصادفات وسايل نقليه همواره داراي تبعات منفي اقتصادي، اجتماعي و حتي سياسي بوده و لذا هميشه كاهش تعداد و شدت آن ها از اولويت هاي دولتمردان بوده است. اين مقوله با توجه به نرخ بالاي تصادفات در كشور ما، ايران، از اهميت ويژه اي برخوردار شده است. بر اساس مطالعات صورت گرفته سهم قابل توجهي از تصادفات در محدوده تقاطع ها صورت مي پذيرد؛ اين در حالي است كه سهم تقاطع ها به وسعت شبكه مقدار ناچيزي است. اين مساله در كنار تعداد قابل ملاحظه تقاطع هاي بدون چراغ در سطح كشور، نويسندگان مقاله پيش رو را برآن داشت تا به مرور اقدامات و راهبردهايي بپردازند كه جهت ارتقاي ايمني تقاطع هاي بدون چراغ به كار مي روند. اگرچه ممكن است بسياري از موارد مطروحه در كشور شناخته شده و در حال اجرا باشد، ليكن اين مقاله سعي در خلاصه و مدون نمودن جميع اقدامات ايمني مرتبط با تقاطع هاي بدون چراغ دارد تا بدين وسيله ابزاري بسيط در اختياران متخصصين و مسئولين امر جهت تصميم گيري قرار دهد.

Motor vehicle collisions normally have negative consequences، especially in the economic، social and even political era. Therefore، reducing the number of occurrences and severity of them becomes the priority for the policymakers. Due to the high rate of motor vehicle collisions in Iran، it has become an important issue in our country as well. According to the literature، most of the traffic collisions occur within the intersection areas while these intersections assigned limited area to themselves among the wide range of properties in the road transportation network. Furthermore، with attention to the considerable number of unsignalized intersections in this country، the authors of this paper motivated to review the countermeasures and strategies to increase the safety of these intersections. Although، many of the mentioned approaches might be recognized and applied currently in Iran's road transport network، this study aims to summarize and framed all related safety measures related to unsignalized intersections to provide an extended framework which can help specialists، engineers and policy makers to choose better decisions.
